Scoping workshop

This half day workshop was held on 27th May, 2008 after the launching of the PACN Kenya Hub at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus. Participants who were majorly leading scientists from across Africa and worldwide were invited to participate, with the objective of setting the agenda for the PACN Kenya hub. 



  Access to information - PACN should be a vehicle of circulating information
  Database of equipments available in Africa
  Database of scientists/organizations/funding sources available
  Research consortia - PACN should be a Network of Networks
  Bringing people together across fairly broad interest groups e.g. medical chemists,etc
  Setting up model equipments and experiments in high school


It began with a plenary session at which the PACN Kenya secretariat briefed the participants on areas to set activities in.

The participants were then divided into four break-out groups to discuss how the PACN should work with the existing networks, promote research and innovation and facilitate education in the following areas: Food & Agriculture, Health, Chemical Sciences & Education and Energy, Environment & Sustainable Water. The groups after the break-out sessions,
made plenary presentations from which a final report was written.
