PAN AFRICA CHEMISTRY NETWORK
Pan Africa Chemistry Network Institution Survey form
The Royal Society of Chemistry, UK received a grant of £1,000,000 from Syngenta International to support Pan Africa Chemistry Network. The first hub of the Network was inaugurated in the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi, Kenya in May, 2008 while the second hub was inaugurated in the Department of Chemistry, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in September, 2008. The network aims at promoting training and research, creating favorable environment for exchange of ideas among staff and students, and improving networks of chemical scientists with one another, policy makers and society.
At a scoping workshop held during the launch of the Network at the University of Nairobi, it was agreed that we compile a profile of Departments of Chemistry in Africa. It was also agreed that in order to strengthen the existing chemical sciences we should know their needs. This survey is to help us do the two agreed objectives which will enable our Hub to assist you.
It is envisaged that the results of the survey will help revitalize and strengthen relevant strategies, programmes and action plans and establish new initiatives on collaboration among African scientists.
We would therefore be grateful if you could provide your department's responses to the questions listed below. It should take about 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire
